The Normandy School District Board of Education has approved the promotion of four employees and the hiring of one as part of the district’s team of administrative leadership. Sonja Harvey, Anthony Taylor, Robin Vaulx-Williams, Cherron White and Tina Clark-Scott will serve as principals during the 2012-13 school year, effective July 1.
Sonja Harvey will serve as principal of Lucas Crossing Elementary Complex. She has been assistant principal of the school since 2007. Prior to joining Normandy, Harvey worked in the University City School District where she served as teacher, after-school tutoring director and administrative leader. She has 15 years of experience in the area of education. Harvey holds a Master of Education degree in elementary and secondary administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Anthony Taylor has been named principal of Bel-Nor Elementary School. Taylor joined the district in July 2010 as a content area coordinator. He has more than 18 years in the field of education. Taylor has worked in several St. Louis county school districts in positions ranging from classroom teacher to administrator. He holds a Master of Science degree in educational administration from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL, and is completing work towards educational specialist and doctorate degrees from Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, MO.
Robin Vaulx-Williams is the new principal of Washington Elementary School. Vaulx-Williams has over 20 years of experience in the field of education, having also served the district as principal, assistant principal, instructional specialist, mathematics specialist and classroom teacher. She holds Master of Arts degrees in educational leadership and educational processes from St. Louis University and Maryville University in St. Louis, MO.
Cherron White, an employee of the district since 2006, has been named principal of the Positive Alternative Learning (PAL) Center. White, who has served the district as assistant principal and content area coordinator, has 12 years of experience in education. She has also worked in the Ferguson-Florissant and Hazelwood School Districts. White holds a Master of Arts degree in education administration and is pursuing a doctorate degree in Science Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Tina Clark-Scott is principal of Jefferson Elementary School. Clark-Scott joins the district from the Hazelwood School District, where she was an assistant principal. She has over 16 years of experience in the education field, having served the Parkway, Ritenour, St. Louis Public and University City School Districts. Clark-Scott holds a Master of Arts degree in education administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and is completing studies towards a doctorate degree in education from Lindenwood University in St. Louis, MO.
In addition to approving new principals, the board has also approved the appointment of the following individuals to serve as assistant principals:
